Maker Faire is a kind of mini-Burning Man for the hobbyists of all kinds, however you also meet the industrial and research people having fun over there.

We at Verilog Meetup put computers over there and taught everybody the basics of SystemVerilog hardware description language using FPGA boards with graphical LCD screens. You can write something like “always_ff @ (posedge clk) if (x > counter) red <= ‘1;” and see the red moving over the screen.

We also demonstrated a set of microarchitectural exercises to train for the job interviews. These exercises are popular among both graduate students and EDA AI companies.

We got a lot of help with booth activities from Joshua Lai and David Grugett of Gowin Semiconductor.

Verilog Meetup member Dan Barrowman (Tesla) also worked in the booth, but I forgot to take a picture with him.
